A decade at the core of drone autonomy

Navronics is led by Simon Wilks, an engineer with a rare combination of large-scale software leadership and deep drone systems expertise.

Simon spent eight years as an Engineering Manager at Google before founding and running a commercial drone autopilot company for eight years, serving customers internationally. As a former core PX4 developer with over a decade in ground control software, he has worked at every layer of the autonomous flight stack, from firmware and flight control to the operator-facing systems that make it usable in the field.

That background shapes how Navronics builds: rigorous, standards-aware engineering applied to systems that operate where failure isn't an option.

What we build

Deep expertise across open-source autopilot stacks, ground control software, edge computing, and industrial control systems.

Ground Control Stations
Over 8 years developing custom MAVLink-compatible GCS software (Android/Java/Kotlin) from the ground up, as well as extending and customising QGroundControl.
Autonomous Solutions
Custom autopilot solutions for multirotors, hybrid VTOL drones, agricultural equipment, rovers and marine vehicles. Extensive experience in PX4 and open-source flight control. IoT solutions based on Balena.
PLC (Epec) & Control Systems
Precision agriculture and autonomous machine control using industrial PLC platforms (Epec). Boom height and fold control, hydraulic and pressure management, vibration monitoring, sensor integration, and CAN-based communication between controllers. Edge computing on embedded Linux for rugged field deployments, including autonomous-capable integration.
Drone Integration
Assistance from prototype stage through to production. Remote consulting or on-site PX4 installation and flight testing at our Townsville location.
